Mandatory travel insurance for Zanzibar
From September 1st, travel insurance will be mandatory for all visitors to Zanzibar, costing $44. This insurance covers several areas, including:
- Medical Care - Covers the cost of medical care during the stay on the island.
- Loss of Luggage - Insurance for lost luggage during the trip.
- Accidents - Covers costs associated with accidents.
- Emergency Evacuation - Covers costs of evacuation in emergency situations.
- Loss of Passports - Insurance for the loss of passports.
- Repatriation of Remains - Covers the cost of repatriation of remains in case of death.
The insurance is provided by the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation, a government entity, and is valid for up to 92 days from the arrival on the island.
